What happens when a civil lawsuit is dismissed with prejudice no appeal, yet years later another order appears under the same docket number?
This special report introduces one of the procedural questions explored in The Court Record Series.
It focuses on New Jersey Civil Law Case L-4749-14, a separate civil damages action that followed an earlier Family Court (FD) proceeding FD-04-2874-12 Lillie Coley vs Shawn Carter. These were two different cases with different docket numbers and different purposes. The Family Court matter addressed family law issues such as paternity and support, while the Civil Law case involved a separate civil action seeking damages for unlawful family court actions

Using public court records and the procedural history as understood by Dr. Handy this presentation examines the dismissal of the Civil Law case in 2018 and the later injunction entered under the same civil docket in 2022(documents below). The goal is to encourage viewers to review the public record and consider the procedural questions raised by that sequence of events.
This special report serves as a preview of topics that will be explored in greater detail in the upcoming documentary series.
